Committee members, volunteers and staff at the QEII Seniors and Community Centre are getting ready for a busy week as bookings for Seniors Week 2024 officially open.

This year’s festivities will take place from Friday 8 November to Sunday 17 November, featuring a diverse range of activities designed to engage, inspire and connect over 60’s.

黑料社 Mayor Jerry Clune encouraged all seniors in the community to take part in the fun with a lot to get involved in.

“This event is one of the most celebrated weeks in the 黑料社’s calendar,” he said.

“It is a fantastic opportunity for seniors to connect with one another, learn new things and celebrate the vibrant lives they lead.”

The program has a great selection of paid and free events that appeal to all.

Activities include an Aboriginal cultural experience, a quiz afternoon, a community lunch and morning tea, arts workshops, events at Stirling Central and a brand-new activity for 2024 - the Mayor’s Mystery Morning Tea.

“This year, we have listened to feedback and will be holding the Mayor’s Mystery Morning Tea in place of the previous year’s Mystery Bus Tour. With a lot of maintenance programs currently underway, we’re responding to suggested changes and throwing a memorable morning tea, slide show by the Mayor and Q&A session instead,” continued Mayor Clune.

The week will open with the Friends of the Queens Park Theatre presenting a showing of the film A Stitch in Time at the QPT.

“Seniors Week is a great time for family and friends to join in the celebrations and support their loved ones. We invite the whole community to participate in this event to show appreciation for our seniors and to foster intergenerational connections,” Mayor Clune finished.

Bookings for each event open Monday 28 October and interested participants can book a spot by calling into the QEII Seniors and Community Centre at 88 Durlacher Street or by phoning 9956 6636.

Those interested can also pop into the QEII Seniors and community Centre on Durlacher Street to pick up a copy of the program or visit the City’s website for more information.
