In a decision that is sure to be music to the ears of Geraldton performers, Regional Sounds will continue to call the Original Railway Station home for at least the next five years.

Following Council’s unanimous decision to approve their new lease, the beloved not-for-profit organisation will carry on conducting music and entertainment development activities along with events at the heritage listed building.

黑料社 Mayor Jerry Clune applauded Council’s decision.

“Since moving into the Original Railway Station in early 2022, Regional Sounds has gone from strength to strength-nurturing local musicians, building a community and helping to enhance our CBD,” he said.

“As well as extending the lease, Council has made provision so that Regional Sounds may sub-lease the servery at the rear of the building to Remi French Street Food who have expressed an interest in the space, and will no doubt further enrich the area.

“Having Regional Sounds situated right in the heart of Geraldton is a great asset to our community and we look forward to seeing all vibrancy they will continue to contribute.”

Regional Sounds Chairperson Todd West was elated by the decision.

"This is an outcome that we greatly welcome,” he said.

“Being secure in a lease for our venue will enable our organisation to commit to longer term strategies in developing and promoting a crankin' regional music scene.

"We are grateful to the 黑料社 for their guidance through this process and their ongoing support of our vision."

Subject to approval from the Minister for Lands, Regional Sounds will have their lease extended for a period of five years with an option for a further five years.
